Welcome to WISdra Network's Frequently Asked Questions! This page covers common questions about our economy, Towny land management, towns, nations, Siege War, and more.

Economy

Q: How do I check my money balance?

A: You can check your personal money balance at any time using the command /bal.

Q: How can I earn money on the server?

A: There are several ways to earn money:

  • Selling items in the Auction House (/ah).
  • Selling items at Admin Shops or setting up your own Player Shop using the shop system (/shop).
  • Getting paid directly by other players using /pay <player> <amount>.
  • Participating in server events that offer money rewards.

Q: What is the Auction House and how do I use it?

A: The Auction House is a central market where players can buy and sell items from each other. Use the command /ah to open the Auction House GUI, list your items for sale, or browse items listed by others.

Q: What are Player Shops? How do I create one?

A: Player Shops are shops set up by players to sell or buy items automatically using their balance. To create one:

  1. Place down a chest.
  2. Left-click the chest with the exact number of items you want to sell in a single transaction (e.g., hold 16 diamonds to sell 16 diamonds at once).
  3. You will be prompted in chat to type the price you want for that amount of items.
  4. A sign will appear next to the chest with the shop info. (Make sure there's space for the sign!).
Note: If you have chat issues (like on BungeeCord), you might need to use commands instead.

Q: How do I buy or sell items from a Player Shop?

A: To interact with an existing Player Shop, simply left-click the sign next to the chest. You will be prompted in chat to type the amount you want to buy or sell. The sign will show whether the shop is buying or selling that item.

Q: Can I get my money as a physical item?

A: Yes, you can convert your balance into physical banknotes using the command /withdraw <amount>. Right-click the banknote item to deposit the money back into your balance.

Q: Where does my money go besides buying things?

A: Besides purchasing items, money leaves the economy through town and nation daily upkeep fees and taxes, if applicable to your town or nation.

Towny Basics (Towns & Residents)

Q: How do I create my own town?

A: If you are not already in a town, you can create your own using the command /town new <townname>. There is a creation cost and a daily upkeep fee deducted from the town's bank. Check in-game for exact costs.

Q: How do I invite players to my town? What about removing them?

A: If you are the Mayor or have appropriate rank permissions, use /town invite <playername> to invite someone. To remove a resident from your town, use /town kick <playername>.

Q: How can I talk only to members of my town?

A: You can use town chat by typing /tc <your message>.

Q: What are town taxes and how do I set them?

A: Town taxes are an amount of money automatically collected from residents daily. These taxes help your town meet its daily upkeep costs. As Mayor, you can set the resident tax amount using /town set taxes <amount>.

Q: How does town upkeep work?

A: Town upkeep is a daily cost based on how much land your town has claimed (plots). This amount is automatically deducted from the town bank. Ensure your town bank has enough money to avoid bankruptcy.

Q: How do I claim more land for my town?

A: If you are the Mayor or have appropriate rank permissions, stand in an unclaimed wilderness chunk that is directly adjacent to land already claimed by your town and use the command /town claim.

Q: How do I leave a town?

A: If you wish to leave the town you are currently a resident of, use the command /town leave.

Q: How do I manage my personal friend list?

A: You can add or remove players from your personal friend list using /res friend add <playername> and /res friend remove <playername>. This list is used in plot permissions.

Land Claims & Plot Management

Q: What exactly is a plot?

A: Plots are the individual claimed townblocks or chunks within a town's territory. They are always a 16x16 block area.

Q: How can I sell a plot to a resident in my town?

A: If you are the plot owner, stand inside the plot you want to sell and use the command /plot forsale <price>. Residents can then buy the plot by standing inside it and typing /plot claim. As Mayor, you can set a default price for newly set-for-sale plots with /town set plotprice <price>. The money from the sale goes to the town bank.

Q: What are the different types of plots?

A: Plots can be set to different types to give them unique functions. Use /plot set <plottype> while standing in the plot.

  • default: The standard plot type. Use /plot set reset to change a plot back to default.
  • shop: Designates an area for player shops (often appears red on the in-game map).
  • arena: Enables PvP and friendly fire within the plot.
  • embassy: Can be bought by any player (even non-residents) if set for sale.
  • bank: Allows players to deposit/withdraw from town and nation banks.
  • jail: Players sent here if imprisoned.
  • farm: Only crops can be placed or destroyed.
  • wilds: A semi-protected area where only trees, flowers, mushrooms, etc., can be broken.

Q: How do I set permissions for my plot?

A: Plot permissions control who can build, destroy, use items (switch), etc., within your specific plot. You can set permissions for different Groups (friend, resident, ally, outsider) and Actions (build, destroy, switch, itemuse). Use /plot set perm <group> <permission> [on/off] while standing in your plot. You can also set default permissions for all your owned plots using /resident set perm <group> <permission> [on/off].

Q: Can the Mayor set permissions for plots?

A: Yes, the Mayor can set permissions for unowned plots within the town using /town set perm <group> <permission> [on/off].

Nation System

Q: How do I create a nation?

A: If you are the Mayor of a town, you can create a nation using the command /nation create <nationname>. There is a creation cost and a daily upkeep fee based on the number of towns in the nation. Check in-game for exact costs.

Q: How do towns join my nation?

A: As Nation King or Assistant, you can invite towns using a command (often /nation invite <townname>). The Mayor of that town must accept the invitation.

Q: How do I set which town is the capital of my nation?

A: As the Nation King or Assistant, you can designate a town as your capital using /nation set capital <townname>.

Q: How do alliances work between nations?

A: Nations can form alliances. As King or Assistant, use /nation ally <nationname> to propose an alliance. The other nation's King/Assistant must also use the command to accept. To break an alliance, use /nation unally <nationname>.

Q: How do I set policies or change properties for my nation?

A: As the Nation King or Assistant, you can configure various attributes and policies for your nation using the broad command /nation set <attribute>. This command is used for things like setting nation taxes, designating the King, etc.

Q: How do Nation Ranks work? How do I promote/demote players in my nation?

A: Nations have ranks like Member, Assistant, and King. The King is the leader. As King, you can assign nation ranks to players using /nation rank add <playername> <rankname> and remove them with /nation rank remove <playername> <rankname>.

Siege War

Q: How do I start a Siege War?

A: First, your nation must be enemies with the target nation (/nation enemy add <nationname>). To initiate a siege on a town within their territory, you must then place a coloured banner next to the enemy town's claimed land.

Q: How do I make another nation my enemy? How do we stop being enemies?

A: To declare another nation as your enemy, use the command /nation enemy add <nationname>. To remove the enemy status, both nations involved must use the command /nation enemy remove <nationname>.

Q: How do you win a Siege War?

A: Siege War victory is determined by a Siege-Victory-Timer. When this timer hits 0, the side with the most Siege Points wins the siege.

Q: How do we score Siege Points?

A: You can score Siege Points in two main ways:

  1. Banner Control: Occupy the wilderness area close to the siege banner for 10 continuous minutes to gain 'banner control'. This provides small but constant point increases every few seconds.
  2. Kills: Score high siege points by killing enemy players within a wide radius around the siege banner.

Q: What happens if my nation wins a siege?

A: If the attacker's nation wins, they have two main options for the defeated town:

  1. Plunder Town: Place a chest outside the town to 'plunder' gold from the town bank, transferring it to the victorious nation. Towns that run out of money go bankrupt.
  2. Capture Town: Place a second coloured banner outside the town. This will capture the town and forcibly add it to the victorious nation. The captured town cannot leave the nation for a few days.

Q: How do I check the status or score of an ongoing siege?

A: You can check the status, timer, and possibly scores of active sieges using commands like /towny war hud. You can also list active wars with /towny war list.
