WISdra Network Rules
Welcome, brave adventurers, to our unique Survival Multiplayer server! We've designed a world that deliberately mixes the raw, untamed energy of a less-restricted Minecraft experience with opportunities for community and secure creation. This isn't your typical server – and that's the point. To thrive here, you need to understand the delicate balance between chaos and order that governs our realm.
This guide will walk you through the server's rules, explaining not just what they are, but why they exist, helping you navigate the dangers and opportunities that lie ahead.
The Call of the Wild: Surviving the Wilderness
Beyond the protective embrace of towns lies the vast, unpredictable wilderness. This is where the core tenets of minimal restriction truly shine (or burn!). If you cherish true survival, hidden bases, and the thrill of the unexpected encounter, this is your domain.
Griefing and Stealing: The Law of the Land
In the wilderness, the classic rules of civility are largely suspended.
- Griefing is Permitted: Found a base that isn't in a town? It's fair game. You are free to break blocks, redecorate with lava, dismantle farms, or otherwise alter or destroy structures built by other players. This fosters a world where secure bases are earned through clever hiding and defense, not just assumed.
- Stealing is Allowed: Likewise, finding unprotected chests or resources in the wilderness means you're welcome to take them. Trust sparingly, hide everything securely, and be prepared to lose your possessions if discovered outside of a safe zone.
In the wilderness, your safety is your responsibility. Build smart, hide well, and trust no one lightly.
Wilderness Boundaries: Not Total Anarchy
While destruction is common, we draw the line at actions that completely prevent players from engaging with the server.
- No Permanent Spawn Trapping: You cannot repeatedly trap players in inescapable structures (like endless bedrock boxes or constantly reinforced cages) right at their spawn points (world spawn or their bed) with the sole intention of soft-locking them from playing. Griefing should be a setback or a challenge, not a perpetual prison sentence.
- Server Stability is Paramount: This rule holds true across the entire server, but is particularly relevant in the wilderness where players might experiment with large contraptions. Creating builds or engaging in actions with the sole purpose of crashing the server or causing severe, widespread, and persistent lag for the entire player base is strictly forbidden. This undermines the experience for everyone and will lead to immediate staff intervention.
Building Sanctuaries: Life Within the Towns
Recognizing that not everyone wants the constant threat of destruction, we offer towns as havens of peace and collaboration. These are islands of safety in the otherwise dangerous world.
Protection from the Wild
Within the clearly defined boundaries of a designated town, the rules shift dramatically.
- Town Protection is Active: Any build, farm, or creation located inside the official town borders is protected. Griefing, unauthorized modification, and stealing from within these limits are strictly against the rules. Here, you can build ambitiously and connect with other players without constantly looking over your shoulder.
- No PvP in Towns: Towns are neutral ground. Player-versus-player combat is explicitly forbidden within town boundaries. Resolve your conflicts in the wilderness; towns are for trade, building, and community.
Towns offer a chance to build, collaborate, and find respite from the dangers outside. Respect their boundaries and the safety they provide.
Understanding Town Mechanics: How are towns created? How can you tell exactly where the safe zone ends? What are the rules for joining or managing a town? These are crucial questions! Information regarding town creation, border visualization (e.g., using a specific command, a map, physical markers), and any associated requirements or guidelines will be provided separately on our Discord or a dedicated guide page. It is your responsibility to know and respect town boundaries.
The Immutable Laws: Rules That Apply Everywhere
Certain lines should never be crossed, regardless of your location in the world. These rules are in place to ensure a baseline level of fairness and server health for all players.
Fair Play and Server Integrity
Maintaining a playable and reasonably fair environment requires prohibiting certain disruptive actions.
- No Hacking or Exploiting: This rule is absolute and applies universally. The use of any unauthorized client modifications (like X-ray, speed hacks, combat assistance), glitches (like item duplication, clipping through blocks), or exploiting server vulnerabilities to gain an unfair advantage or disrupt gameplay is strictly forbidden. We want players to succeed through skill, strategy, and effort, not cheating.
- No Excessive, Unreasonable Lag Generation: While complex builds can cause some lag, intentionally creating contraptions designed purely to generate excessive, server-crippling lag (beyond typical performance impacts of large, functional builds) is prohibited. Staff reserve the right to dismantle builds causing significant, widespread performance issues for the majority of players, even if they are located within a town. Please strive for efficiency in your designs.
Respect (Within Limits): Chat Conduct
Even in a less-restricted environment, basic standards apply to communication.
- No Severe, Untargeted Harassment: While general banter, rivalry, and even some "trash talk" related to in-game conflicts are expected and often part of the fun in this type of server, relentless, personal attacks, hate speech (based on race, religion, gender, orientation, etc.), discrimination, or doxxing (sharing private real-world information) directed at players unrelated to ongoing in-game actions or in a severe and persistent manner is not acceptable. Staff will review such cases and may issue mutes or other penalties for clear and repeated violations that go beyond typical server interaction.
- No Chat Spam: Avoid flooding the chat with repetitive messages, nonsense, or excessive characters that make normal communication impossible.
Spawn Camping (Universal Exception)
Regardless of whether world spawn is in a town or the wilderness, direct, immediate spawn camping is prohibited.
- No Repeated Spawn Killing: You are not allowed to repeatedly kill players immediately as they respawn at the world spawn point or at their bed. Players should have a reasonable opportunity to move away from the immediate respawn location before being engaged in combat. This also explicitly includes setting up instant death traps (like lava or inescapable fall damage) directly on top of common spawn points.
Maintaining Order: How Staff Intervene
While our server is less moderated than many, staff will intervene in specific circumstances to enforce the universal rules and protect designated town areas.
Reporting Issues
You are our eyes and ears! If you encounter any of the following, please report it to a staff member (ideally with evidence like screenshots or video):
- Game-breaking bugs or exploits that could harm the server or give extreme unfair advantages.
- Clear violations of the universal rules (Hacking, Excessive Lag Builds, Prohibited Spawn Camping, Severe Untargeted Chat Harassment).
- Any instance of griefing or PvP occurring inside the designated boundaries of a town.
Staff intervention is primarily focused on these areas to ensure the server remains playable and the town protection system functions as intended.
Conclusion: Forge Your Path
Our SMP offers a unique blend of freedom and necessary structure. Whether you choose to brave the dangers of the wilderness or build a life within a protected town, understanding and respecting these rules is key to having a positive experience. The world is yours to explore, conquer, or build upon – just remember the laws of the land (and the town!).
Good luck, and may your adventures be memorable!
